Take Action on Radon

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

Our goal is to increase the public’s awareness of Radon gas. Radon is a naturally occurring gas present in most homes. You cannot see, taste or smell radon gas. Long term exposure can result in harmful side effects, including lung cancer. We want to make Nova Scotia the most radon-aware province in Canada by educating Nova Scotians on the danger of radon gas in their homes. In 2015, we initiated a pilot project where we gave away 200 radon detection kits in Tantallon, a community that has extremely high levels of radon. The response was overwhelmingly positive that we brought program back for a second year giving out 500 free radon detection kits in 10 communities across the province (50 per community). All 500 kits were claimed in less than 24 hours!

We will continue working until every home in Nova Scotia is tested for radon.

Please call (902) 443-8141 to purchase a kit online here. Test your home and protect your family from the dangers of radon gas!
