Take Action on Radon

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

November is Lung Month and the ideal time to test your home for radon. Our goal is to make Nova Scotia the most radon-aware province in Canada by educating Nova Scotians on the danger of radon gas in their homes. Last year, we initiated a pilot project where we gave away 200 radon detection kits in Tantallon, a community that has extremely high levels of radon. The response was overwhelmingly positive and we are thrilled to grow the program this year by providing free radon detection kits during the week of November 14th to more Nova Scotians.

LANS will provide a FREE radon detection kit to the first 50 homes that register in these ten communities:

  1. Hammonds Plains - SOLD OUT*
  2. Truro - SOLD OUT*
  3. New Glasgow - SOLD OUT*
  4. Antigonish - SOLD OUT*
  5. Port Hawkesbury - SOLD OUT*
  6. Sydney - SOLD OUT*
  7. Bridgewater - SOLD OUT*
  8. Wolfville - SOLD OUT*
  9. Yarmouth - SOLD OUT*
  10. Liverpool - SOLD OUT*

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the positively overwhelming response, all free radon detection kits across the province have already been claimed.

Please visit www.ns.lung.ca or call (902) 443-8141 to purchase a kit. Test your home this November and protect your family from the dangers of radon gas!

*If you are not one of the first 50 people to register in your community, radon detection kits are available for purchase on our website or at our office location in Halifax. Please note that all personal information and test results collected will be kept confidential and used for program purposes only. No individual results will be released to any outside sources. As part of the program, you will receive follow-up informational e-mails regarding radon.
